THE FLAWED HEROES
Resonance is told through five characters whose paths are pulled together by a single moment in a village square. As the world quietly runs out of time, five flawed heroes do everything they can to save it.
VIR
A young man from a village where nothing ever happens except when the Empire comes to take what it wants. It took his sister when he was a boy, and his father before that. He has spent twelve years living with the helplessness of having watched and done nothing. Now the silver bowl has marked him a Salir, the one the prophecies say will save the world and the Empire. He does not want it. He may not get a say.
AVARA
A general and the Empress's most trusted blade, sent to ferry village youths to the capital. Her loyalty to the Radiant Throne is absolute. On the flows she tastes what others feel. Yet she carries wounds of her own. When a furious village boy draws a golden orb, the certainties she has built her life on begin, quietly, to crack.
NEWLYWEDS
Newly married, with the whole of their life still ahead of them, until the Empire's arrival tears that life apart. In the capital they make their new home together, but their new life slowly pulls them apart. All they have to hold onto is each other. Soon they realise this might not be enough.
EMPRESS
She took the Radiant Throne in a single bloody day and has held it alone ever since. To a furious village boy she is the face of everything that has been taken from him. To herself, she is the only thing standing between the world and what is coming for it, and there is no price she will not pay to hold the line. She has watched the boy from afar for longer than he knows. Now that the pieces are almost all in place, all that is left is to watch the game unfold.
